Forget the usual witches and vampires. On October 17, hundreds of dogs took over Manhattan's East Village for the 36th annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, and their humans had clearly been planning these costumes for a while.
There was an astronaut Pomeranian appropriately dubbed "A-Pom-Llo," a dog dressed as a New York City trash can, another transformed into a piece of chewing gum, and even a pup dressed as the flying house from Up.
And those were just a few of the outfits.
And the Winner Is…
With so much competition, the judges had their work cut out for them.
The top prize ultimately went to Snickers, a black-and-white dog dressed as New York Knicks basketball star Jalen Brunson. His winning look earned him a giant ribbon and a year's supply of dog food and treats.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend joined the festivities, helping lead the parade alongside organizer Fern Watt.
But while Snickers took home the prize, the rest of the dogs gave everyone plenty to admire.
The best part? You can see the costumes for yourself.
Some costumes were wonderfully elaborate. Others were delightfully ridiculous. And a few probably required more planning than their humans' own Halloween outfits.
One thing's certain: New York's dogs know how to put on a show.
