THE FETCH • THE WEEKLY PUP CRUSH
Meet Gidget — a 7-year-old Maltese from New York with plenty of personality, an impressive little résumé, and a habit of making herself part of whatever is happening.
|
|
|
Welcome to The Weekly Pup Crush, where one very special pup gets the spotlight, the profile treatment, and a very important question for all the dogs out there:
|
Would your pup swipe right?
|
Gidget may be tiny, but she has never really believed in sitting on the sidelines. She loves attention, children, other dogs, and being right in the middle of whatever her people are doing — preferably dressed appropriately for the occasion.

First impression
She came to be included.
Gidget loves people and attention, and she is especially happy when kids or other doggies are part of the plan.
She has the kind of personality that makes “just hanging around” feel suspiciously like a social event.
And, as any proper New Yorker knows, different occasions call for different looks. Gidget’s wardrobe rotates accordingly.
People person? Absolutely.
Kid & dog committee? Approved.
Under-dressed? Rarely.

Her sixth sense
She knows when you need her.
Gidget’s family says she has a remarkable way of noticing when someone is sad or sick.
And when she does, the spunky little social butterfly changes gears completely. She walks over, lies beside them, and simply stays there for comfort.
No performance. No request for attention. She just seems to know when being close is enough.
Some dogs read the room. Gidget reads the heart.

The red flag
Ball Boss.
Gidget takes fetch seriously. Throw the ball and she’ll chase it, bring it back, and place it directly into your hand. Very professional. Very efficient.
The problem begins when she decides she has done enough retrieving.
That’s when Gidget throws the ball herself — admittedly, not very far — and waits for you to go get it.
Playing fetch on equal terms? Apparently negotiable. Being promoted to retriever without warning? Highly likely.

Matchmaker’s notes
Gidget needs a playful pup with a soft side.
Someone who loves a good game of fetch, understands that retrieving duties may suddenly reverse, and knows when it’s time to trade playtime for simply staying close.

|
Bonus points for reading the room and accepting that when the Ball Boss delegates, you fetch.
