There are certain things you can learn about a potential date fairly quickly. Whether they’re funny. Whether conversation flows. Whether seven minutes somehow feels like two… or twenty.

But on August 26, one question has already been answered before the camera even turns on:

They like dogs.

For Dog Day, DateNight.ai is hosting Dog Lovers DateNight, a virtual speed-dating event built around one very useful piece of common ground. Instead of swiping through profiles and wondering whether “likes dogs” means has three rescue mutts or once petted a golden retriever at brunch, everyone attending is there because dogs are already part of the equation.

Seven dates. Seven minutes each.

Participants fill out a questionnaire covering things like age, location and dating preferences before the event. DateNight.ai then uses those answers to match each person with up to seven other singles.

On the night itself, every match gets a seven-minute one-on-one video date. Afterward, participants privately indicate who they’d like to see again. If the interest is mutual, DateNight.ai connects them.

That means no awkward number exchange, no wondering whether the other person was actually interested, and no committing an entire evening to a date that lost momentum before the appetizers would have arrived.

Seven minutes. Then onto the next dog person.

There is, of course, no guarantee that your future match will agree that the dog deserves three-quarters of the bed. Some compatibility issues simply require further negotiation.

The part we really like

The dog connection isn’t only there to make the dating pool more interesting.

75% of the event’s revenue will be donated to animal rescue organizations.

DateNight.ai is partnering with rescue organizations for the event, including SPCA International and Pets Rule Care Project, with additional rescue partners being added.

So a $15 early-bird ticket isn’t simply buying an evening of tiny video dates. Most of the event revenue is going toward organizations helping animals in need.

For something that begins with maybe I’ll meet someone cute, that’s a pretty good outcome either way.

Your dog can supervise

Dog Lovers DateNight takes place Wednesday, August 26 at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT and is open to single dog lovers ages 18 and up. Early-bird registration is $15, with the price increasing to $20 on August 22 at 11 PM.

Because the entire event happens online, there is also absolutely nothing stopping your dog from sitting beside you and silently evaluating every match.

Which, depending on your dog, may be the most intimidating part of the evening.

Maybe you meet someone. Maybe your dog finally approves of one of your romantic decisions. Either way, a few rescue dogs get something out of date night too.

We’ll take those odds.
