One recent dog supplement recall is worth checking if you use Fi Calming or Fi 8-in-1 Formula at home.

Fi has recalled two supplements after learning that an ingredient supplied to its manufacturer may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Only the specific lots listed below are affected.

Fi: two dog supplements recalled over possible Salmonella contamination

Fi announced the recall on September 3, and the FDA published the notice on September 8. The company says its manufacturer has suspended production while the issue is investigated.

Fi Calming Supplement for Dogs

  • 180 g container

  • UPC: 8 50064 80011 1

  • Lot: 26118

Fi 8-in-1 Formula Supplement for Dogs

  • 180 g container

  • UPC: 8 50055 11168 4

  • Lot: 26159

The recalled supplements were distributed directly to consumers and sold through Amazon and Chewy.com.

Owners with either affected lot should keep the container tightly sealed and dispose of the entire product in the trash, following Fi’s recall instructions.

Salmonella can cause illness in dogs and can also pose a risk to people handling a contaminated product or touching affected surfaces. Dogs may develop vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, lethargy, reduced appetite or abdominal discomfort. Some infected dogs may show few obvious signs.

If your dog consumed one of the recalled supplements and develops symptoms, contact your veterinarian.

What to do if you have one of the recalled products

Check the product name and lot number on the container rather than relying on the brand name alone.

If it matches one of the recalled lots:

  • stop giving the supplement to your dog

  • keep the container sealed before disposal

  • wash your hands after handling it

  • clean bowls, scoops, countertops or other surfaces that may have come into contact with the product

If your dog has already consumed the supplement, keep the packaging or take a photo of the lot information in case your veterinarian needs it later.

Consumers with questions can contact Fi at 1-888-434-3647, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, or email [email protected].

The Fetch will update this page if additional dog food, treat or supplement recalls are announced during September.
