Carly and Greg do not look like an obvious pair.
Carly is a 4-year-old golden retriever with the kind of enthusiasm that makes fetch feel like a full-time occupation. Greg is a 3-year-old Chihuahua, considerably smaller and a little more interested in staying close and taking everything in.
But by the time they arrived at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, one thing was already clear: these two were a package deal.
The shelter considered Carly and Greg a bonded pair, which meant their next home needed room for both of them. That can make an adoption search more complicated, not because there is anything wrong with the dogs, but because asking someone to welcome two animals at once is simply a bigger commitment.
Then The Dodo introduced them to Chris Evans.
For an episode of its Dodo Dream Date series, Evans spent an afternoon getting to know the pair through a playful, over-the-top first date: games, treats, toys and a round of “Dream Date pong,” where each bucket came with something for Carly and Greg to investigate.

Carly embraced the assignment.
She chased toys, played fetch and happily collected belly rubs, while Greg stayed nearby with a slightly more measured approach to the proceedings. Their different personalities made the pairing even sweeter to watch. Carly brought the energy; Greg seemed perfectly comfortable letting her handle the entertainment.
And underneath all of the celebrity-date silliness was the real reason they were there.
Carly and Greg were still waiting for someone who could see them not as two separate adoption decisions, but as one little family that already existed.
Evans understood the assignment. A longtime rescue-dog advocate and the person behind rescue dog Dodger, he spent the date making care packages for the pair and helping put their story in front of a much larger audience.
The video ends with the question still open: who would be the person willing to take both?
Fortunately, we now know the answer came.
After the Dream Date was filmed, Carly and Greg were adopted together.
That happy ending changes the way the whole video feels when you watch it now. The toys, the games and the celebrity appearance are fun, but none of them are really the point. What matters is that somewhere after the cameras stopped rolling, someone looked at a golden retriever and a Chihuahua who had already chosen each other and decided there was space for both.
For Carly and Greg, home was never going to be a place they reached separately. They found one together.
